The MIPS system was invented in 1996 in Sweden by Hans von Holst, a neurosurgeon and Peter Halldin, a researcher from the Royal Institute of Technology.
MIPS is designed to add protection against rotational motion (or kinematics) transmitted to the brain from angled impacts to the head, which is how most riders fall.
Rotational motion is a combination of rotational energy (angular velocity) and rotational forces from angular acceleration that both affect the brain and increase the risk for minor and severe brain injuries.
MIPS’ added protection system has been proven to reduce rotational motion when implemented in a helmet by redirecting energies and forces otherwise transmitted to the brain.
Charles Owen has embraced MIPS technology as a way to ‘top up’ the safety of some of their already triple-tested, triple-certifiedriding helmets.
The adoption of MIPS provides further protection to reduce brain shear in riding accidents involving falls at speed.

This stuff is great for my sensitive OTTB who gets scratches easily in wet weather. An application lasts a few days and heals the effected area quickly.
They are warm right down to the tips of your fingers and very grippy on the palms. I rode in 32 degree weather for over an hour plus did my tackng up and some barn work all while wearing them.
I grew up riding with a cap or nothing at all on my head. After a bad spill I started wearing protective head gear, and I've never looked back. Troxel makes excellent western helmets, and if you like, you can even add a brim for more shade. This is my fifth from them, and I won't ride without it.
I was quite happy to find this bucket on sale and in a color I wanted as well. Also bought a pr. of Kids Equifleece gloves in the color red which fit my petite adult hands. It was worth looking through to find larger kid sizes than just Kid's x-small, small, medium. Love that they have grip and are lightweight and warm. Not at all bulky. There are other colors with a cute embroidery on them too. Still getting used to the layout of the new store. The location is closer than the old one & offers plenty of parking too.
Love the jacket. Great to ride in. Not bulky but warm. I wear a fleece jacket under it when it’s bitter cold and I stay nice a warm. It was a great find at a discounted price.
